JUDY’S APPLE PIE

Slice apples (large Pyrex bowlful, heaping full)

1 cup sugar

1 teaspoon  cinnamon

Nutmeg

Little salt

Optional:  Squirt lemon juice over and dot with butter.

Use recipe for basic pie crust.

(A variation: Mix apples with sugar and spices as in Judy’s recipe above.  additionally, in a small bowl, combine 2 tablespoons flour and 1/4 cup sugar;  sprinkle this evenly across the bottom of pie crust.  Then proceed as in above recipe, filling crust with apples, dotting with butter, etc.)

Brush crust with a a tablespoon of milk or cream and tap a teaspoon of sugar over the top of the crust before placing in oven.

Bake at 450° F. for 10 minutes and then at 350° F  for about one more hour.
Baking at 425° F. for 15 minutes and 325° F. for another 50 to 60 minutes will also work. Really depends on your oven.
